THE actress who was beaten, allegedly by her lover, is relieved the man is behind bars.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Londiwe Ngcamu (30) from Sobantu in Pietermaritzburg, KZN Midlands, said: “The police informed me they have arrested him. I almost died after I was beaten.
“I don’t know what got into him, but he must be punished for what he did.”
Londiwe, who was part of the Sarafina 3 cast that toured Nigeria, urged women to take action.
“Women are killed because they sometimes stay in abusive relationships,” said Londiwe.
“They’re ignorant and blinded by love. Abusive men must be punished.”
Arts and Culture MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi said: “We wish that the perpetrator gets punished. What he did is unacceptable.”
Seven Days War director Mvuselelo Buthelezi said: “We hope the law sets an example to men that abuse has no place here.”
Colonel Thembeka Mbele said: “A suspect aged 30 years was arrested and appeared in court.”
