ANOTHER initiate has dies in Eastern Cape.

The latest death happened on Monday.

It has brought the season’s toll to four so far.

Sphesihle Mlombile (17) from Alfred Nzo died on Saturday.

Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs spokesman Mamnkeli Ngam confirmed the death.

Ngam said Sphesihle’s death was not caused by the usual assault or by dehydration.

He said the young man hanged himself.

Ngam said Corporate Governance MEC Fikile Xasa would like to see an investigation conducted.

“MEC Xasa believes that no death should happen. Emabhumeni, as a custom, does not kill,” said Ngam.

He said the department had sent condolences to the bereaved family.

Sphesihle’s death follows that of Tsepiso Nksoesa (18) last Thursday.

And Thembelihle Mapasa (20) and Siphesihle Bobo (20) died of dehydration at Theko-Fihla, near Centane.

The three were legal initiates.

Provincial police spokesman Captain Khaya Tonjeni confirmed that Sphesihle hanged himself.

“An inquest docket has been opened and the cops are investigating,” he said.
