Liverpool could be edged out against PSG in the Champions League

That is the prediction of Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas, who previewed Liverpool’s group clash against PSG
in the Champions League.
A win will ensure the Reds – who reached the final last season – qualify for the knockout stages of the competition with a game to spare.

Previously, it was feared that Neymar and Kylian Mbappe would miss the clash for the French giants at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday (8pm).

“I expect Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to be back and PSG know they have to go for it, so I expect a great game of football and loads of goals,” Nicholas wrote in his Sky Sports column.

“But, purely because they’re at home and they’ve got these superstars knowing they have to make an impact, I’m going for the French side to just win this in a really entertaining game.”

Jurgen Klopp is facing a potential blow as he could be without Sadio Mane for the game.

Although the Senegalese attacker started and played the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 win over Watford on Saturday, he has been struck down by a mystery illness.

It has been reported Klopp will give the 26-year-old every chance to be ready in time.

Liverpool will train today and Klopp will make a final decision on the match day squad that will travel to France.

Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk has sent PSG a warning before the game.

He said: “We are going to be totally up for it, motivated and we will make sure we are ready from the start. We don’t need to forget that we are one of the best teams in Europe as well.

“We reached the final last year and we want to do at least the same this year. That’s our goal. So we are going to try and beat them.

“I think at a club like Liverpool you always feel a bit of pressure.

“You should do. But it doesn’t bother me. I just want to play.”
