Parents of toddlers who were on a play date received a shock when they discovered that a DVD lens cleaner contained pornography.
Parents hosting a toddler play date placed a DVD lens cleaner in their player and stepped away for a few minutes, only to return and discover that it contained pornography – which was being played to the children.
Wayne Nunn, the host parent, told the Sunday Times he wanted to put on Barbie and the Nutcracker for the children, only to discover his DVD player was dirty.
He went to a Crazy Store and bought a lens cleaner kit, which he put in the player before stepping away to unload the rest of his purchases from his car.
In that time, one of the mothers arrived to pick up their child. As they walked in, they found the children were being shown pornography.
“I immediately turned off the porn, but it was too late,” said Nunn.
Nunn said he called Crazy Store’s customer support line and asked for the DVD cleaners to be removed. The following day he went to a different Crazy Store to see if all the lens cleaning kits had porn on them.
While the one they purchased contained a softcore film called “Girl Refined”, Nunn said he was shocked to discover the second kit he bought came with “China’s Hot Babes” – which showed full-frontal nudity.
After calling the customer care line again, Nunn said he was told Crazy Store was aware of the problem but hadn’t had enough time to remove the products.
Crazy Store has subsequently taken the product off its shelves and said it would never knowingly expose its customers to this type of material.
It also asked Nunn to hand over the DVDs he bought, which he refused to do – saying that the store would destroy the evidence to cover up the incident.
Nunn, a plumber, said he has lost friends and business because of the incident, as one of the parents who saw the pornographic material was also a client of his.
He wants Crazy Store to reimburse him for the money he spent on the cleaning kits and compensate him for the contract he lost as a result the incident.
