Fitness guru Sbahle Mpisane was involved in a near-fatal car accident in Durban in August last year. After paramedics had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue her from the wreckage, Sbahle spent weeks in hospital recovering.
While recovering in hospital and at home, the Mpisane family shared that Sbahle suffered severe head injuries that resulted in her losing her memory and almost all recollection of her life and the people in it – including her ex-boyfriend, soccer star Itumeleng Khune.
Although most of her fans were very supportive and wished her a speedy recovery and healing, some people have accused her of faking her amnesia. The Fitness Bunnie has finally addressed the accusations and laid them to rest in a recent Instagram post.
“With sadness I have watched, especially today, how I am vilified, brandished a ‘murderer’ of an unknown passenger in my car and faking my amnesia. At first your words stung, but I felt no pain as my truth is known by God, the legal system and those that were the first responders to an accident scene I STILL have NO recollection of,” she wrote.
“What the naysayers & doom spreaders don’t realize is my daily struggle of regaining control of my life. Waking up from a three-week coma asking my mom Shauwn, if she had informed Michelle (my high school receptionist) that I wasn’t going to come to school. I woke up from my coma thinking I had fell down the school stairs,” she continued.
Sbahle went on to mention how embarrassing it gets sometimes for her, when she spends time people she was close with, but has no idea just how close a relationship they shared, such as actress, Nomzamo Mbatha.
